Wedding in Tuscany – Viva Fiorenza (Tuscany/Florence)

“Griiiiiiddddddateeeee con meeee. Viiiiivvvvvvaaaaaa Fioooorenzaaaaa!”.

It was September and I was in Florence for a video wedding in Tuscany. That day I was awakened by a shot of cannons, steps of a military march, drum chimes and trumpet blasts that gathered the crowd. It was late morning but I was still sleeping and for some very long second I was captured by fear. “A riot is breaking out” I though.

I snapped my eyes shut again and looked out of the hotel window into Piazza della Signoria: a fascinating spectacle colored the square and the streets around it. A newsboy shouted for the classic change of the Guard at Palazzo Vecchio. A historical procession marched to the beat of drums, the trumpets rang a cheering march. I would have stayed to watch it for hours and take it in every detail and from every possible perspective if I hadn’t had to leave a few hours later.

I think that day was the first time in my life that I cursed myself for staying up late. But I had a plausible justification: Katherine & JB’s wedding party in Tuscany of the day before had been a great show, an evening of fun that I had seen before – after having passed the 35 years.

Yet I had imagined something more “quiet” when I met the two Canadian spouses.
They were so calm and elegant!

The bride got ready at “Il Salviatino”, one of the most chosen wedding venues in Tuscany. The wedding location was “Castello di Vincigliata”. For those looking for a romantic and scenic wedding location in Tuscany, the Castle is a certainty. It is a fortification built around the year 1000, on the Tuscan hills a few kilometers from the center of Florence.
The panorama of its terrace takes your breath away: there is no other construction that dominates Florence in that way.

The beauty of a wedding in Tuscany is precisely this: it offers emotions continuously, on several occasions, unexpectedly. A wedding in Tuscany is a continuous and unmatched inspiration: from history to architecture, from art to cuisine to nature. Even JB often repeated in his broken Italian “Matrimonio Toscana Fantastic!”. “Yes” – I replied – “Matrimonio Toscana very very fantastic”!

The fabulous wedding party took place in the spacious lounges of the castle, with frescoes of the ‘500 and original furniture, between the arms room and the gallery with torches. One of the best wedding parties I’ve ever witnessed. Watch the trailer and you will see some good ones!
