“ Hallo, ich kann ein Bier trinken”. It’s the only sentence in German that I’ve learned and that I still remember. It couldn’t been otherwise, considering that we were in Munchen, the most important city of the world for the beer. The city known by everyone for the amazing “Oktober Fest”. The phrase “Hello, could I have a beer?” told in the worste german language, it was the only strategy that I had created to break the ice and to enter more easily in Bavarian customs.

It was July 2017, we were in Munchen to film a commercial movie for the City: a short clip movie that told the main features and the most important interest points of the city in a few minutes. Mission impossible, Muncher is so big, it is the city most visited in all Germany rich in beautiful monuments, gardens, building and interesting suburs.

We must tell that by chance we were in Munchen, a bit for challenge, a bit to put ourselves out there. A few months before, we had participated at a promo contest for videographers, videomakers and documentarians organized by Air Dolomiti. Theme of contest: to create a commercial spot for the city. We thought to film a person on bike (Vincent my collegue) among the Bari streets (our city), followed by Luffy, a little dog (a nice Jack Russell).

The idea proved to be winner. About this I was sure until I understood that to remake the same movie in Munchen would have been quite different. Sure, it’s true that Munchen is perfect to ride on bike, but so too is that Munchen is more biggest than Bari. It meant to pedal for 15 kilometres at day for three days! I’ve ridden more kilometres in those three days than in 37 years of life.

Luckily, the route we had planned, provided for a series of pit-stop (bar and pub) where we stopped often to fuel: I drank beer, Vincent drank water. Yes, you understood me correctly, he drank only water in the city of beer (and water is more expansive than beer, amazing!). So, in that three days, we rode for every square inch of the city: we saw Isaar river, among rural homesteads, big parks, Baroques Churches; we passed from “Frauenkirche” Cathedral to “Neues Rathaus” New Municipal, from Hofbräuhaus, the most ancient brewery since 1958, to the modern stadium Allianz Arena.

Ah, before to close, I should apologize to all: to create a timelapse of a pitcher of beer (the beer had to give the appearance to finish, but it couldn’t be touched), I was forced to drink little by little with a straw! It was the worst thing that I ever made, but at the end, I made a great job!
