I tell you clearly: being a wedding videomaker today is so cool! Because you can travel, meet people and visit places, swap a few words and ideas with other colleagues; because you can work during weddings, and marriage is one of the best parties in everyone’s life. Everyone is happy, kind and pretty in a wedding; among other things, the food is great and drink better. I do not think there is another job like that of a wedding videographer.

A few months ago, for example, I had a very special destination wedding. My team and I were called to Sicily by a beautiful married couple who celebrated a very original and fun wedding. Even today I thank them for their inspiration: it is thanks to them and to the beautiful Sicily if we managed to make “Waltz in Sicily” a wedding video shooting like a film, exciting and engaging.

A job much appreciated by insiders and many videomaker colleagues. It is thanks to “Waltz in Sicily” that I was contacted by For Love’s Sake portal, the largest international community of videographers that organizes inspirational events for wedding videomakers worldwide.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOU CREDITED BY FLS. DID YOU ALREADY KNEW THIS WOULD BECOME A SPECIAL FILM WHILST SHOOTING IT?
Thank you very much. I did not know it while I was recovering it, but I imagined that it could be a great movie because there were beautiful situations. Ceremony in the village square, an orchestra with 100 elements, everything was beautiful.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF 
I began in the 2000. Before I was an editor video and since 2003 I had shooting first weddings. I immediately offered myself to the best wedding photographers in the area, working closely with video operators and wedding videomakers of a good standard. From them I learned the basics of the trade, and for this I still thank them, stealing with tricks and basic techniques, first as an editor and then as a video operator. A “school in the field” lasted more than ten years, until I realized that I was now a complete video operator. The moment had finally arrived when I could say mine, with an original style, with an original way of telling stories and with a strong and uncontrollable enthusiasm. Since 2016 I am an indipendent videographer, I like being contacted by couples that they are married in the most beautiful places in Italy and in Europe.

Who are you? I am a boy of 39 years that love the music, Pink Floyd and David Bowie the best for me; I love the photography, in my shot I like to find the light in the shadows; I live with my wife (she has essential for my work) and our 2 dogs in the Apulian countryside (Cisternino, south Italy); I love the canon 50mm f1.2 (I shot 80% of images with this lens); I did not think that my “waltz in Sicily” should have all this success. WHAT PART OF THIS FILM IS YOUR FAVORITE AND WHY? 
There is no favorite part, I love it. Because singles parts would not do sense, each clip is linked to the previous and the nexteach

COULD YOU DESCRIBE THE EDITING PROCESS? 
While I was shooting this film, I was thinking about all the feelings and emotions I felt. I breathed the air and the Sicilian perfumes, I listened to the castanets and friscaletti (typical of Sicily), there was the fantastic orchestra that played beautiful music and I thought I had to mix everything in my film. When I started to editing I remembered my impressions and I was impressed by the elegance of the couple while they were dancing the waltz in the city square and I told “I have to create a visual and sound waltz” (I hope you understand my english)

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST STRUGGLE YOU HAD TO OVERCOME DURING THE WHOLE PROCESS? 
the biggest struggle was the color correction and the sound editing. The CC because the images were shot in many different places (room, square, old palace, before there was sun and after many clouds), anche the sound editing because I had to create a trip without pause

OKAY, THE QUESTION EVERYBODY ALWAYS ASKS….. LET’S GET THAT OUT OF THE WAY. WHAT WAS IN THE KIT-BAG DURING THIS WEDDING? 
I have 2 canon 5d markIV, canon 50mm f1.2 and canon 35mm f.14. And I have one Helios 58mm that I use sometimes (there are 2-3 clips in this film). My collaborator has one 5d markIV, canon 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8 and 28mm f1.8. We use sometimes glidecam hd 4000 (for the valzer), monopad but often we work freehand. For audio recording we use Zoom h6n and Instamic pro on the groom for the ceremony.

WAS THERE SOMETHING YOU LEARNED DURING MAKING THIS FILM? 
I think every film you can learn something. In this film I have confirmed that audio is essential.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS STRUCTURE OF STORYTELLING/EDITING? 
I chose this structure because the storytelling was born during the wedding day. Typical sound form Sicily and a big orchestra with 100 elements was already a perfect storytelling.

HOW DID THE PROCESS OF CHOOSING A SONG WENT? 
in this film I chose the waltz and the Sicilian sounds because I wanted to create a visual and sound waltz

WHAT OR WHO IS YOUR INSPIRATION, IN GENERAL? 
In general I love Wes Anderson and Terence Mallick. My wedding inspirations are Evergreen Films, Fiore Films, Riccardo Fasoli

IS THERE SOMETHING MORE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE ABOUT THIS FILM? 
It was a beautiful wedding but it was not easy to shoot it. 100 elements in the orchestra, many people to see the ceremony in the city square, many details, speeches (they are in the full version of 16 minutes), but it was an important challenge
